Well, my initial question was whether a back up made in Ubuntu can be transferred to Debian without problems.
I did not find an answer online, that is why I posted the question here in the forum.
In the end I just copied the data files to an external disk and then back into my document folder once Debian was installed.
Now, that I have Debian installed and configured, I can think about ta proper back-up option again, including system-, and dotfile back up.
And you are right, this information should be easy to find, because the back-up is within a distro and not cross distro.
Anyway, in the answers here are several suggestions I have to investigate first![Very Happy :D]()
