Some more information about the Access Point(s)

The router is an ASUS TUF AX-3000 V2 (running firmware 3.0.0.4.388_23848) and the WiFi network was tested using all modes (WPA2 security used every time):

• ASUS' 'SmartConnect' dual-band mode (5Ghz/2.4Ghz mixed)
  5Ghz only
  2.4 Ghz only

None of the tested configurations worked.

However the Debian machine managed to connect without any problems to my Android phone's tethering hotspot.
