I'm afraid that's not what @Aki asked.

Is the package "linux-image-amd64" installed? It appears it is not and that's the reason you're not catching kernel upgrades.
Ah, my bad, not reading properly. No!

So I did and this pulled in linux-image-6.1.0-22-amd64. After doing this, I performed an apt upgrade, but during the process, I noticed that it was not able to compile the NVIDIA and VirtualBox drivers properly, because for some reason, the linux-headers packages corresponding to the new 6.1.0-22 kernel hadn't been installed. So, I installed linux-headers-6.1.0-22-amd64 and linux-headers-6.1.0-22-common manually to fix everything.

But for the future: Are there similar meta packages for linux-headers that I should install in order for the system to keep them in line with linux-image upgrades?
